Smart4 Energy is seeking a Procurement Specialist for a geothermal power plant in Nakuru, Kenya. The role involves overseeing sourcing, purchasing, and inventory operations to ensure efficient plant performance. Responsibilities include managing procurement for operations, supplier performance, compliance with regulations, and maintaining inventory records. Candidates should have a relevant degree, professional certification preferred, and 5–10 years of procurement experience in power generation or heavy engineering.
A major renewable energy project in Kenya’s Menengai geothermal field is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to support the operational phase of a new 35MW geothermal power plant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a landmark green‑energy development that will deliver clean, reliable baseload electricity to Kenya’s national grid.

The Procurement Specialist will oversee all sourcing, purchasing, and inventory operations required for safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance. The role manages procurement of equipment, spare parts, consumables, tools, and subcontracted services, ensuring full compliance with internal procedures, contractual obligations (including EPC, O&M, LTSA), and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Mobilisation Phase (Pre‑COD)
• Recommend initial stock of spare parts, tools, and consumables
• Develop inventory management and procurement procedures
• Review EPC and LTSA inventory provisions
• Support CMMS setup and maintenance planning
• Establish supplier agreements and procurement frameworks
• Ensure accurate inventory records during mobilisation

Operations Phase (Post‑COD)

Procurement & Supply Chain
• Plan and execute procurement for plant O&M needs
• Manage stock levels for lubricants, chemicals, filters, PPE, tools, and other consumables
• Track consumption and maintain reorder points
• Monitor procurement costs and recommend cost‑saving measures

Contract & Supplier Management
• Manage supplier performance and delivery timelines
• Administer procurement contracts and negotiate pricing
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, OEMs, and service providers
• Support warranty and LTSA-related obligations

Inventory & Maintenance Support
• Maintain minimum spare parts requirements
• Ensure workshop tools and owner-supplied equipment are maintained and available
• Support routine, planned, and unplanned maintenance activities
• Document and follow up on defects and warranty issues

Compliance, Reporting & Governance
• Ensure all procurement follows internal policies and legal requirements
• Maintain accurate documentation and audit-ready records
• Prepare procurement and cost reports
• Support audits, financial reviews, and inventory planning
• Update CMMS records for inventory, procurement, and maintenance integration

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics, or related field
• Professional certification (CIPS, CPSM) preferred
• 5–10 years’ experience in procurement within power generation, industrial plants, or heavy engineering
• Experience with spare parts, consumables, tools, and O&M/LTSA contracts
• Familiarity with CMMS or asset management systems
• Strong understanding of HSE, regulatory compliance, and governance
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
