Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal Process Engineer to drive the development and optimization of sustainable manufacturing processes. This role requires a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles and a passion for environmental stewardship. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and scaling up cutting-edge manufacturing technologies that minimize environmental impact and maximize efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes with a focus on sustainability and reduced environmental footprint. Conduct feasibility studies, process simulations, and pilot plant trials to evaluate new technologies and process improvements. Develop detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications. Oversee the scale-up of processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial production, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality. Collaborate closely with R&D, operations, and engineering teams to implement and integrate new processes. Troubleshoot and resolve complex process issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Ensure all processes comply with relevant environmental regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff. Manage process engineering projects, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in sustainable manufacturing and green chemistry.
Qualifications:
Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field. 10+ years of progressive experience in process engineering, with a significant focus on sustainable manufacturing or environmental engineering. Demonstrated expertise in process design, scale-up, and optimization. Strong knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and mass transfer. Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and modeling techniques. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong project management capabilities. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence decision-making. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting technical information to diverse audiences. Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives is essential.
