Job Description
Hoare Lea is seeking a Principal or Associate Sustainability Consultant (Energy) for its Bournemouth or Reading offices. The role involves managing large-scale sustainability projects, supporting junior team members, leading workshops, and developing energy strategies. About the role We have a brand-newopportunity for a Principal or Associate Sustainability Engineerfocused on Energy to join our team based in our Bournemouth orReading offices. It's an exciting time to be part of our broaderSustainability group which has a presence in every Hoare Lea officeacross the country. We provide a diverse sustainability consultancyservice promoting sustainable development for a range of projects,across all sectors. Our Sustainability Group is an industry leaderin its approach to sustainability design, construction and buildingoperation. Focused on achieving ever greater standards ofenvironmental sustainability, the Group thrives on its dynamic,innovative, and ambitious working culture. In this key and variedrole, you can expect to: 1. Take ownership and deliver large-scaleprojects with industry-leading clients. 2. Manage and prioritisethe workload of a project team. 3. Report resourcing requirementsto the project lead team. 4. Contribute to the development ofjunior team members. 5. Effectively delegate, manage and reviewwork undertaken by others. 6. Support the production of feeproposals and invoicing. 7. Lead workshops with the client anddesign team and communicate information in a clear and concisemanner. 8. Undertake a range of modelling and analysis, which mayinclude but not limited to: embodied carbon of materials, circulareconomy opportunities, building performance simulation, operationalenergy use, energy generation and overheating. 9. Lead thedevelopment of sustainability and energy strategies. 10. Lead thedelivery of environmental assessments (such as BREEAM, WELL, HQM,etc) from early design stages through to completion. 11. Supportthe drive towards realising net zero whole life carbon in ourprojects. 12. Work with other members of the Sustainability Groupon research and development initiatives to allow us to stay at thecutting edge of knowledge in our industry. As well asproject-related work, the Group engages directly with industryundertaking research and development studies, and authoringindustry guidance. The role also presents the opportunity forinvolvement in this aspect of the Group's work to those keen tohave a direct influence on the industry. About you You are likelyto have some knowledge and competence in a selection of thefollowing fields: 1. Energy strategies. 2. Building RegulationsPart L assessments using Elmhurst and IES. 3. In-use energymodelling and assessment. 4. Dynamic modelling for thermal comfortassessments and overheating risk assessments. 5. Production of andsupport of planning submissions. 6. Net zero carbon strategies. Tobe successful in this role you will need: 1. Experience workingwithin the built environment sector. 2. Experience working within asustainability or engineering consultancy, you will be looking fora new challenge within a practice at the very forefront of ourfield. 3. Expertise (with a degree in an applicable field) and apassion for creating sustainable solutions. 4. You will relishbeing part of dynamic team within a progressive and well-respectedfirm. 5.
