Anthesis Group is hiring a Principal Consultant - Sustainable Packaging to support clients in developing sustainable packaging strategies. The role involves managing multiple projects, conducting research, performing data analysis, and providing guidance on sustainability practices. Candidates will work with a diverse range of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to startups. This is a permanent, full-time remote position with a salary range of $102,000 - $120,000 per year.

Summary of Role & Key Responsibilities
Anthesis is seeking a sustainable packaging consultant to join our Packaging Service Line within the Circularity and Value Chain Transformation team. The Packaging Service Line team is highly experienced in supporting clients with setting sustainable packaging strategies that are rooted in data, achievable, future proof and with the ambition to reduce the impact that packaging has on our environment. Consultants will work on packaging-related projects, providing the foundational support to help advance our clients’ sustainability strategies. Your projects and clients may span a diverse set of industries, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to boutique brands and start-ups. You will be joining an engaged, collaborative community that approaches its work with energy and optimism.
Key Responsibilities:
• Concurrently manage several projects across their lifecycle and be responsible for these projects providing high value to our client while being on time and budget. Project work may will likely encompass one or more of the following:
• Performing quantitative modelling to help determine a client’s packaging footprint
• Conducting landscape reviews, including researching competitors’ sustainability goals and strategies, sustainable packaging regulations, etc.
• Undertaking project-related research, collect and analyze data, and engage with a range of stakeholders
• Performing data analysis to identify gaps and inaccuracies, and developing well-reasoned approaches and assumptions to fill gaps
• Draft reports and presentations that convey key messages and inform strategic decision making
• Provide guidance and technical leadership to clients as well as colleagues on leading practices, standards, and trends, incorporating this knowledge into consulting projects, proposals and the evolution of new services
• Develop and deliver proposals with client managers and generate your own leads with existing clients, demonstrating an understanding of the client’s business and creative scopes of work to achieve their goals
• Lead and grow client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact and developing a trusted advisor relationship with clients, with a relentless focus on helping them be successful in defining and achieving their sustainability goals
• Proactively monitor and analyze emerging trends and developments in sustainable packaging, supply chain, packaging regulations and innovative materials, and translate these insights into actionable recommendations for clients
• Collaborate with Anthesis's experts to represent the company at industry-leading conferences, fostering valuable connections and partnerships
• Drive the development of innovative thought leadership content on sustainable packaging, translating complex concepts into accessible and engaging materials for diverse audiences
Key Requirements & Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
• Bachelor's degree in packaging engineering, materials engineering, or equivalent experience; graduate degree preferred
• 8+ years' of professional experience, ideally with 5+ years’ professional experience in packaging engineering (preferably in raw materials, consumer goods packaging, or supply chain management), and 3+ years’ professional experience in the consulting space is highly preferred
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and oral command of the English language
• Project management skills: ensuring projects are delivered on time, to budget and to client expectations
• Familiarity with MS Project is a plus
• Effective time management, with the ability to stick to deadlines and prioritize tasks
• High level of organization and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with virtual teams across different time zones, in a fast paced, collaborative, and team-oriented matrix environment
• Demonstrable client management and business development skills Team player with the ability to work well with others on a global basis and supportive of Anthesis’ values
• Understanding of packaging material technical attributes and applications
• Experience managing sustainability programs and knowledge of industry standards
• Understanding of Life Cycle Assessments for various packaging materials, formats, and usage scenarios. Experience with LCA software and carbon-related standards is preferred
• Advanced data analytical skills, including competency in Microsoft Excel. Additional experience with Alteryx, Tableau, NetSuite and PowerBI preferred but not required
