Our client, a forward-thinking architectural firm, is seeking a highly creative and experienced Principal Architectural Designer to lead innovative projects focused on sustainable urban development. This role is for a visionary individual who can translate complex design concepts into tangible, aesthetically pleasing, and environmentally responsible architectural solutions. You will be responsible for the overall design direction of major projects, from initial concept development through to construction documentation. This includes leading design teams, mentoring junior architects, and ensuring design excellence across all project phases.

Key responsibilities involve conducting site analysis, programming client needs, and developing innovative design solutions that meet aesthetic, functional, and sustainability goals. You will be expected to present design proposals to clients, stakeholders, and review boards, articulating the design rationale and its benefits. The Principal Designer will play a critical role in integrating sustainable design principles, such as energy efficiency, material selection, and green building technologies, into every project. Collaboration with structural engineers, MEP engineers, landscape architects, and other consultants will be essential to ensure a cohesive and integrated design. Staying abreast of the latest architectural trends, building technologies, and relevant building codes and regulations is a must.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in Architecture and possess a professional license (RA) in Idaho, with NCARB certification. A minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in architectural design, with a significant portfolio showcasing successful projects in urban development and sustainable design, is required. Proven leadership experience managing design teams and projects of varying scales is essential. Proficiency in architectural design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and the Adobe Creative Suite is mandatory. Strong understanding of sustainable design certifications (e.g., LEED) and methodologies is highly desirable. Exceptional conceptual thinking, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and presentation abilities are critical for success in this role. This position requires a blend of creative talent and technical expertise, based in Boise, Idaho, US .
