About the Role
The Onboarding and Connections Division at the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) plays a vital role in managing the connection process in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
This division collaborates with transmission and distribution providers to support developers and manufacturers through generation, storage, and load application, registration, and commissioning phases.
• Recommend projects for NEM registration and commercial operation
• Provide guidance on connection requirements and necessary materials
Your Key Responsibilities
In this dynamic role, you will lead a motivated team, tackling power system challenges and driving integration of emerging renewable energy and storage technologies.
• Collaborate closely with network service providers to support developers and manufacturers
• Manage resources across various generator, storage, and load connection projects
• Provide expert technical advice in performance standards, power system stability, and registration and commissioning
• Mentor and guide technical staff, encouraging innovation and new approaches
What You Will Bring to the Role
• Proven experience in building and managing engineering/technical teams
• Extensive experience in generator connection processes and resolving power system performance issues
• Strong negotiation skills for resolving complex technical issues among diverse stakeholders
• Understanding of commercial and legal factors affecting large-scale infrastructure projects and generation developers
