Summary:
The power supply rates analyst is responsible to analyze wholesale electricity rates and rate design initiatives and inform development and negotiation of customer-specific rates in alignment with Great River Energy’s (GRE) strategic imperatives.

Total Rewards:

A typical starting range for this position is $102,000 - $140,000 + annually. Responsibilities: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Assist GRE member cooperatives to pursue strategic load growth opportunities through innovative pricing strategies, special programs, and customized contract negotiations.

· Manage and analyze rate and program data, providing insights and expert guidance on rate structures and market dynamics.

· Calculate and assess rates for GRE’s load management programs to foster growth while ensuring cost recovery, delivering effective pricing signals, and maintaining competitiveness with alternate fuels and technologies.

· Research, develop, analyze, and advise on cost allocation methodologies, rate design methodologies, and wholesale rates to support rate design initiatives.

· Conduct analyses and coordinate implementation of new programs for emerging technologies, renewable energy, distributed generation, and energy storage to support member-owners, grid modernization efforts, and load growth.

· Develop and draft updates to GRE tariffs, rate schedules, program guides, and appendices in collaboration with GRE staff to support annual budget process.

· Prepare background information, presentations, and board resolutions for management and board review and approval processes.

· Monitor public policy changes and market trends that may affect power supply rate provisions or programs.

· Address questions on power supply rates and certain special programs.

· Calculate wholesale rate estimates for commercial and industrial loads in accordance with GRE’s prevailing rates and tariffs to support member-owners.

· Develop and manage models to analyze the financial and rate impacts of customer specific rate contracts with GRE staff and member-owners.

· Participate in the development of term sheets and electric service agreements for customer specific rate options.

· Develop financial and rate analyses of distributed energy resources.

· Analyze and maintain data for multiple rate programs regarding renewable energy and beneficial electrification and make program recommendations for continuous improvement.

· Review, reconcile and approve customer specific agreements monthly invoices and communicate results with finance team.

Qualifications: Knowledge typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, mathematics, business, engineering or related field is required. A minimum of five years of experience analyzing contracts, rates and tariffs for electric utilities or other analytical experience is required. An advanced degree in business administration, public policy or related field may be substituted for experience. Very strong analytical, organizational, and communications skills are required. Familiarity with utility cost of service studies, electric rate design approaches, and cooperative business model is helpful.
