NAES Corporation is hiring a Power Plant Operations Engineer in New Castle, DE. The role involves providing engineering support, analyzing O&M performance data, overseeing reliability initiatives, and leading client engagements. Opportunity Summary

The Power Plant Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting fleet engineering, operations & maintenance activities.

Here's a look at some of the primary duties of the position:
• Provide engineering support to plants as requested
• Analyze plant and fleet O&M performance data and identify improvement opportunities. In coordination with Plant Management, recommend improvements (i.e., capital improvements, technologies, and/or processes) to plant owners for further development. When assigned, provide technical direction to implement these improvements.
• Issue fleet Engineering Bulletins and other technical guidance based on individual plant issues
• Oversee improvement initiatives such as reliability centered maintenance (RCM) initiatives to identify and develop improvements to predictive, preventive, and spare inventory maintenance programs for increased reliability and availability.
• Provide technical leadership and program coordination in plant performance analysis and testing. Assist plant staff in monitoring and improving unit efficiencies. Research, identify, and justify performance improvements for all generating units
• Utilize industry resources to identify new and innovative techniques and best practices. Serve as champion for new techniques as appropriate
• Lead complex client engagements, while maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction and displaying commercial acumen that supports department financial goals
• Collect and maintain plant technical and operational information, providing it to those requesting or needing it
• Manage and conduct technical analysis of operational performance, maintenance and diagnostic data to identify and communicate abnormal conditions, lead root cause investigations, recommend effective corrective actions and identify potential cost savings. (Troubleshoot plant performance issues)
• Carry out additional duties as directed by the Chief Engineer

Working Relationships

This position reports to the Chief Engineer and works closely with the Operations Directors and power plant staff.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for long periods of time, ability to communicate verbally, and in writing, and ability to handle long periods of computer screen time.

The Plant Operations Engineer can work remotely or from any NAES Corporate office location. Some extended hours and travel may be required as needed to support plant needs.

All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around plant facilities.

Why you’re the perfect addition to our Team (about you):
• A Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering discipline is preferred. In lieu of an engineering degree, we will consider candidates with at least 6 years of operations and/or maintenance experience in power generation. A minimum of five years’ experience as a Plant Engineer or equivalent position is also preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration is desirable
• The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in power generation electrical systems, understanding of electrical drawings, electrical system troubleshooting and maintenance, and application of NFPA 70, 70B, and 70E standards.
• Experience with project scheduling and budgeting is desirable
• Must have a demonstrated capability to evaluate technical performance, identify potential improvements, develop appropriate technologies, and determine/apply “Best Practices” in technical areas
• Excellent writing and analytical skills and an ability to present facts, conclusions and recommendations in written communications, both in formal and informal formats
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills in order to collaborate with others, communicate with confidence and clarity, and convey information concisely
• Familiarity with software applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Project, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), as well as performance management software such as EtaPro and/or OSI PI
• A valid driver's license is required
