Job Description
Cleco Power is hiring a Power Line Technician in Mandeville, LA, to assist with the construction, operation, inspection, and maintenance of its distribution systems. The role emphasizes safety, customer satisfaction, and compliance with company standards. The Power Line Technician will play a crucial role in this mission by assisting in the construction, operation, inspection, and maintenance of Cleco's distribution system, equipment, and facilities. This position operates under general supervision and is essential for ensuring the reliability of service and customer satisfaction. The Power Line Technician II will learn industry standards and Cleco's specific work practices through both on-the-job training and formal training programs provided by the company. The Power Line Technician is expected to champion a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, employee development, diversity and inclusion, customer service, and operational excellence. Safety is a top priority, and the technician must comply with all safety rules, procedures, and regulations while actively participating in safety meetings. The role requires a commitment to learning and performing all aspects of line operations and construction activities safely and efficiently, in accordance with Cleco's established policies and standards. In addition to technical skills, the Power Line Technician must demonstrate strong communication skills, effectively interacting with managers, supervisors, leads, employees, and customers. The technician will also be responsible for troubleshooting, performing inspections, and maintaining distribution and transmission line equipment. A good attendance record and availability for callouts or emergencies are essential, as is the willingness to occasionally work away from the normal work location to assist other utilities. Overall, this position is vital for maintaining Cleco's commitment to providing reliable service and ensuring customer satisfaction while supporting the company's clean energy initiatives.
Responsibilities
• Assist in constructing, operating, inspecting, and maintaining Cleco's distribution system, equipment, and facilities.

• Comply with safety rules, procedures, and regulations, and actively participate in safety meetings.
,
• Demonstrate capacity to learn and perform all aspects of line operations/construction activities safely and efficiently.
,
• Strive to provide reliable service and maintain customer satisfaction.
,
• Complete job assignments in accordance with established Cleco policies, procedures, and standards.
,
• Work safely, productively, and within established Cleco quality procedures and standards.
,
• Assist in the restoration, construction, and maintenance of Cleco's overhead and underground distribution systems.
,
• Perform troubleshooting, switching operations, and service restoration to minimize customer outages.
,
• Perform inspections and maintain distribution/transmission line and substation equipment.
,
• Incorporate Human Performance (TOPI) in daily work routines.
,
• Maintain a good attendance record, including being on time for regular work and scheduled overtime.
,
• Be available for callout/emergencies and respond to assist based on weather conditions.
,
• Communicate honestly and effectively with managers, supervisors, leads, employees, and customers.
,
• Promote teamwork and support company initiatives for good customer satisfaction.
,
• Follow instructions and directions from Leads, Supervisors, and Managers.
Requirements
• Secondary/High School Diploma
,
• 3-5+ years of related experience
,
• Strong business acumen pertaining to the Utility industry
,
• Strong knowledge of leading practices for their practice area
,
• Strong planning and project management skills
,
• Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job
,
• Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment
,
• CDL Drivers License required; loss of CDL will result in automatic termination.
