Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

The Centre for Planetary Health and Sustainable Care at Dalhousie University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) position. The PDF will work with a multidisciplinary team on the development of human health vulnerability indices associated with climate change. The position is available effective May 1, 2025, and will be for a period of one year with the possibility of renewal for another year.

The Centre for Planetary Health and Sustainable Care is an interdisciplinary research and
training environment committed to exploring the complex interconnections between human
health, environmental sustainability, and equitable care systems. We conduct research and
education that addresses critical global challenges, fostering solutions that promote the wellbeing
of both people and the planet.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will lead and manage climate and health research projects, including the maintenance of collaborations with partner organizations, data collection and analysis activities, preparation and presentation of reports, and writing of articles for peer-reviewed publications. The Centre for Planetary Health and Sustainable Care is committed to scientifically rigorous research to support the creation of sustainable, inclusive solutions to improve population health. Qualifications/Requirements of Position

The ideal PDF candidate will have the following attributes:
• Completed (or ABD) a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant field (epidemiology, health geography, environmental health or similar);
• Demonstrated experience with quantitative methods, and ideally analysis using R and related spatial analysis software (ArcPro, QGIS);
• Exceptional oral and written communication in English, with a clear emerging track record of peer-reviewed publication;
• Excellent organizational, time and project management skills.

The PDF must be willing to apply (if eligible) for Postdoctoral fellowship programs and will be
supported in developing applications as necessary. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae,
a brief letter of research interests in relation to the list of qualifications, a writing sample, and
names and contact information for three referees.

Salary Range/Pay Rate

$61,000 - $70,000 (depending on experience)
