Job Description

CIFOR-ICRAF is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow in Nairobi, Kenya to support the Regreening Africa and K4GGWA programs. Responsibilities include coordinating program activities, conducting research, engaging stakeholders, organizing workshops, and assisting with fundraising. Candidates should have a PhD in Social Sciences or related fields and at least 5 years of experience. The position is full-time and based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF) works at the nexus of five interconnected areas Biodiversity, Climate, Value chains, Food, Equity where trees can make a difference. Our vision is “An equitable world in which viable livelihoods in resilient landscapes foster well-being for people, trees and the environment.” The post-Doc research fellow will support the overall implementation of the Regreening Africa and K4GGWA programs.


In that regard, he/she will support CIFOR-ICRAF team in coordination of program activities, especially under component 3 of the K4GGWA program. The post-doc fellow will support research activities; from design and data collection as well as writing of scientific articles. He/she will support in stakeholder engagement activities including organizing workshops & training as well as support with fundraising activities including proposal writing and project development.


Duties and responsibilities

Support CIFOR-ICRAF team in coordination of program activities, especially the objective/component 3.
Support in research activities from design and data collection to the writing of scientific articles.
Travel nationally and internationally to the field and other program-related events.
Support in stakeholder engagement activities including organizing workshops and training.
Support in fund raising activities including proposal writing and project development.
Any other duty as assigned.

Requirements
A Doctoral Degree or PhD in Social Sciences and related environmental studies.
At least 5 years’ experience in Experience in stakeholder engagements.
Experience in qualitative research methods, data collection and analysis.
Proven experience in scientific / peer-reviewed articles’ publication.

Terms and conditions

This position is offered on post-doctoral terms. CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and experience.
The initial appointment will be for two (2) years, with a six-month probationary period, with the possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position and available resources.
The duty station will be in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso CIFOR-ICRAF Offices.
Candidates must have the right to live and work in Burkina Faso.
