Job Description

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy is hiring a Policy Manager for Sustainable Energy in Washington, DC. This role involves leading state-level policy engagement, building relationships with policymakers, and producing policy documents. Candidates should have expertise in state policymaking, energy efficiency, or electrification, along with strong writing and presentation skills. The position requires experience in formal policy processes and project coordination.
We are seeking an expert policy manager to lead our State & Utility Policy program in Washington, DC. The state policy manager will coordinate state-level policy engagement activity, maintain strong working relationships with policymakers and their staffs, and develop policy fact sheets, blog posts, and reports to funders.
Key Qualifications
• Knowledge of state policymaking processes and a demonstrated track record of advancing state-level energy policy
• Specialized knowledge in at least one of the following policy areas: building energy efficiency, industrial efficiency, or electrification
• Excellent writing and presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex ideas clearly

The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing, submitting formal written comments, and speaking before state legislators and/or regulatory bodies, as well as superb organizational and project coordination skills.
