The position (K0246366)
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has an opening in our Topeka office for a Policy & Initiatives Analyst. This position receives, reviews and compiles statistical data, compiles and edits data for accuracy and completeness.Prepares questionnaires and other forms for use in gathering and reporting data; applies statistical procedures and tabulations in analysis of data collected.
The Policy & Initiatives Analyst will lead reporting and evaluation efforts related to special initiatives.Prepares and/or proofs reports in preparation for publication or for the purpose of informing agency leadership on research topics as assigned.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Participates in agency projects as assigned, including development of analytical systems, redesign of such systems, development, and delivery of trainings of presentations that may or may not be directly related to job tasks.
Qualifications
• Education:
• High School/GED
• Licensing & Certification:
• Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State
• Minimum Qualifications:
• Three years of experience in collecting, evaluating, studying or reporting on statistical, economic, fiscal/budget, legislative or administrative data.Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency
• Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
• Proofreading, editing, attention to detail
• One year experience performing analysis of procedures, policies or programs
• Strong ability to effectively collaborate with others while working independently
• Ability to communicate information effectively orally and in writing
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree statistics, economics, public administration, political science or related field
• Masters Degree
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Experience in health care or insurance
• Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and data in clean, concise ways
