Job Description
Responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of insulation for pipes, ducts, and other mechanical systems. This role ensures that insulation work is completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and project specifications. The supervisor will lead a team of insulation technicians, coordinate project activities, and ensure quality control.
Responsibilities
• Supervise and direct insulation crews, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality standards are met.
• Train and mentor insulation technicians on proper installation techniques, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
• Coordinate daily work schedules and assign tasks to team members.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
• Plan and oversee insulation projects, ensuring timely completion within budget and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project plans to determine insulation requirements.
• Order and manage materials, tools, and equipment needed for insulation tasks.
• Coordinate with other trades and contractors to ensure seamless workflow.
• Ensure all insulation work complies with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to maintain high-quality workmanship.
• Identify and resolve any issues related to insulation installation or material defects.
• Maintain proper documentation of work performed, including job reports and compliance records.
• Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
• Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks with the crew.
• Ensure proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment) and adherence to hazard mitigation strategies.
• Investigate and report any accidents, incidents, or near misses.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certifications preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in pipe and duct insulation, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of insulation materials, methods, and best practices for HVAC, plumbing, and industrial applications.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and insulation specifications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools for insulation installation.
• Understanding of safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or at heights as required.
• Valid driver’s license (if travel to job sites is necessary).
Preferred Qualifications
• Certification in mechanical insulation (e.g., from the National Insulation Association).
• Experience in commercial, industrial, or HVAC insulation projects.
• Knowledge of energy efficiency and thermal insulation technologies.

Working Conditions
Generally, the employee will be working in both an office and outdoor environment. This position requires regular visits and meetings at worksites. In addition, the incumbent will travel to client (potential or current) sites as needed.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently sit, stand, walk, climb, lift, stoop and carry. The incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. The incumbent may be exposed to extreme temperatures, close quarter situations, high and precarious places, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Furthermore, this role routinely uses heavy machinery/equipment such as power tools and standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
