About the position

Responsibilities
• Direct oceanographic investigations focusing on energy, momentum, and material fluxes through the air-sea interface.

• Identify research areas in oceanography and marine meteorology to enhance understanding of environmental processes.

• Oversee scientific studies of geophysical fluid dynamics in various environmental contexts.

• Manage teams studying global climate change, acid deposition, and atmospheric chemistry.

• Lead the development and maintenance of partnerships within NOAA and external organizations.

• Develop budget documents and present program briefings to the Director.

• Ensure timely and economical accomplishment of program objectives.

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and represent NOAA at various meetings.

Requirements
• Doctoral degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics with relevant coursework.

• At least 3 years of specialized experience in a related field.

• Experience in collecting scientific data and developing reports and presentations.

• Ability to analyze and execute resolutions to scientific policy and procedure issues.

• Experience in coordinating and planning scientific projects.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in deterministic atmospheric forecasting and hurricane lifecycle studies.
