Scope:
The People & Environmental Care (PEC) Specialist manages and implements systems to ensure compliance with relevant Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) processes and standards. The position reports directly to the PEC Champion. The position has a dotted line relationship to the respective Business Center Manager. At times, the PEC Specialist may have direct accountability for a specific task or have the responsibility for tracking closure. The level of accountability or responsibility is dependent upon the complexity and resources required for completion.
Leadership
• Implements and manages PEC sub-pillar initiatives and processes
• Leads & trains PEC team members to ensure they are fully utilized to support the site-wide PEC goals
• Tracks and reports safety metrics to the respective leadership and PEC Champion for accurate and timely reporting.
• Prepares the business center for corporate and regulatory audits.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Depending on specific assignment, PEC Specialist will have responsibility for some of these responsibilities:
• Audit business center processes for compliance to all corporate standards such as EHS Standards, MOCs, CTIs, and other related documents.
• Assesses and addresses safety hazards.
• Determines root cause and identifies solutions to safety and health issues.
• Plans and makes decisions about unusual and difficult safety and health problems.Instructs, develops, and leads the safety and health systems initiatives, and problem-solving process.
• Responsible for the development of the business center safety reps.
• Conducting EHS training. (e.g., OSHA 10 HR, New Hire Training, STARR Observation training, Incident Investigation Training, etc.)
• Reviewing standard work documents for EHS considerations
• Lead PEC activities to Identify and correct compliance gaps to governmental, company and plant safety standards within the business center.
• Oversight of STARR Observation process program
• Organize and lead awareness campaigns through the PEC subcommittees
• Lead business center on ‘Good Catch' follow up & closure.
• Manage Learning before and after incidents so that they are completed, and countermeasures are tracked to closure
• Management of Change - works with plant and business center staff to ensure new, modified and altered equipment is properly inspected and documented according to plant systems
• Reports gaps to the appropriate associate and ensures closure.
• Conducts hazard analysis of planned engineering work and shut down activities to ensure compliance to safety and health practices.
• Various responsibilities related to Laser Safety, IH Monitoring, Radiation Safety, Fire Brigade/First Responder Training, NFPA 70E compliance, etc.
• Rotating weekend duty is required between the PEC Specialist.
• Vacation liability exists between the PEC Specialist. No more than two persons can be off at the same time from each end of the plant (East & West)
• Vacation is not allowed during EHS audits or other special circumstances as determined by the EHS Manager without pre-authorization.
• Maintain current and accurate ergonomic assessments (e.g., Brief and Best, NIOSH, Snook Tables, etc.)
• Researches and identifies countermeasures to ergonomic hazards
Observes all prescribed safety practices and maintains equipment and work area in a neat and orderly condition. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Basic Qualifications:
• HS Diploma/GED
• BS Degree in environmental, safety or industrial hygiene
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Must be able to successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment contingencies
• Ability to work any and/or rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime if applicable
• Basic computer skills, uses complicated drawings, OSHA Handbooks.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous Industrial Manufacturing Environmental Health and Safety experience.
• Experience adhering to industry-specific safety standards.
• Certification in IH, Safety or Environmental.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations,
