Job Description
Miller Waste System is hiring a Route Supervisor in Brampton, ON. This permanent, full-time role involves ensuring compliance with safety protocols, scheduling routes, and building positive employee relations. Responsibilities include coaching drivers, reporting on productivity, and maintaining communication with municipal staff. Candidates must have a DZ license, strong leadership skills, and familiarity with the Peel Region. The position requires availability for Saturday work as needed.
Route Supervisor
Location: 326 Clarence Street, Brampton, Ontario
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
Reporting: Operations Manager
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday to Friday
Responsibilities:
In the position Route Supervisor your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• Must be thoroughly involved with all Miller Waste System safety policies and protocols.
• Thorough completion and documented follow-up on all road observations. This will include consistent and progressive discipline of subordinates when safety protocols are not adhered to.
• Ensuring compliance with all Provincial laws and Miller Waste health and safety policies and procedures is mandatory.
• Scheduling of routes as well as record and time keeping.
• You will ensure the timely collection of materials in the City of Peel contract while building positive employee relations.
• You will be effective at team building, while enforcing good Customer Service.
• You will also be the primary line of communication and contact with Municipal staff and must be comfortable in dealing with various levels of Municipal staff members.
• Daily tracking and enforcement of productivity is critical.
• Coaching and training for lower performing drivers must be addressed on a daily basis and changes implemented when needed.
• Accurate and complete reporting such as accident/injury reports, assist in managing WSIB claims and any statistical data may be required.
• Compassion and understanding of individuals needs must be practiced when required and assistance must be offered and encouraged.
• The ability to promote a team culture must be demonstrated to eliminate or reduce turnover.
Requirements:
• The successful candidate must exemplify a leadership role regarding MWSI’s safety culture and enforce participation of all staff to adhere to their safety training awareness.
• The successful candidate will have and maintain a DZ license, a clean driving and CVOR abstract and be able to operate all types of vehicles required for the contract.
• You must have an excellent attendance and performance record as well as proven team building skills.
• Interpersonal and communication skills along with good organizational skills are mandatory.
• Knowledge of MS Word and Excel and Outlook are a minimum requirement for this position.
• Must have the physical ability to collect materials, both with the automated and manual systems.
• Familiarity with the Peel Region and its surrounding areas would be an asset. You must be available to work Saturdays when required.
