Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate in Sustainable Waste Management

The Ng Group invites applications for postdoctoral fellow or Research Associate positions starting September 2025. As a key member of our team, you will work on interdisciplinary research projects related to (i) nuclear waste management from small modular reactors and/or (ii) post-consumer clothing and textile waste management.

These projects are partly funded by NSERC (nuclear waste projects by Alliance and clothing waste project by Discovery Horizons). You will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Kelvin Tsun Wai Ng in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide day-to-day supervision of graduate and undergraduate students
• Conduct research and publish scientific papers, prepare grant proposals
• Manage projects and budgets, provide oral and written updates to internal and external partners
• Other related administrative duties (organization of events/webinars, outreach, etc.)

Requirements:
• A PhD degree in Environmental Systems Engineering, or a closely related field such as Civil and Environmental Engineering
• A solid publication record (n>12) in the field of solid waste management
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Excellent project management skills
• Demonstrated core values of leadership and mentorship
• Holder of PEng license is an asset
• Experience with the regulatory sector in Canada is an asset
