About the Role

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join our team as Outdoor Adventure & Environmental Education (OA/EE) Assistants! This is a hands-on role where you'll engage the community in outdoor education, adventure activities, and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with environmental education programs and community outreach events.
• Utilize the E.C.O. Bus, a mobile classroom for environmental education.
• Serve as a counselor for teen summer camps.
• Care for educational animals used in programs.
• Support operations at Greensboro City Lakes, including equipment rentals, boat launching, and maintenance.
• Perform routine maintenance and groundskeeping duties.
• Work in varied outdoor environments, including forests, trails, and open water.

This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
What You Bring

Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma/GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Will be required to complete and maintain an NC Boater’s License.
• Must be able to pass a swim test.
• Comfortable working around or on open water.
• Basic knowledge of environmental education.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior customer service experience.
• Experience in boating and fishing.
• Animal care experience.
• NC Environmental Education Certification.
• Previous summer camp employment experience.
• Outdoor skills such as hiking, kayaking, or climbing.
• CDL License.
