Job Description
Zintellect is hiring a Technology Associate for the ORNL Ecophysiology Laboratory in Oak Ridge, TN. The role involves providing ecophysiological support for research on terrestrial ecosystems' responses to climate change. Responsibilities include field and lab measurements of plant responses. The position requires travel to field sites, including potential foreign travel. It offers a one-year term with benefits, and candidates should contact Dr. Jeff Warren with their CV and references.
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is the largest U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) science and energy laboratory, conducting basic and applied research to deliver transformative solutions to compelling problems in energy, environment, and security.
The Ecosystems Science Group within the Environmental Sciences Division at ORNL is seeking a post-graduate (BS) laboratory technology associate to provide ecophysiological field and laboratory support. Our research is focused on the response of terrestrial ecosystems to climate change, including elevated atmospheric CO2, increased temperature and shifts in precipitation patterns. The primary duties will focus on direct measurements of mechanistic plant responses including foliar and woody gas exchange (photosynthesis and respiration), isotopes, phenology, chemistry, anatomy and water relations. The candidate may be expected to travel to N. Minnesota for one to two week-long seasonal measurement campaigns at our flagship experiment ‘Spruce and Peatland Responses Under Climatic and Environmental Change’ (SPRUCE; http://mnspruce.ornl.gov/). The candidate will also support other projects within the group as needed, including the Next Generation Ecosystem Experiments (https://ngee-tropics.lbl.gov/) work in the Tropics, and may require foreign travel.
The position is for one year and includes full benefits including a medical plan and vacation, with potential for renewal based on performance and funding. For further information, please contact Dr. Jeff Warren (warrenjm@ornl.gov) and provide a CV, relevant school transcripts, and names of professional references. The position is available now with the expectation of being filled as soon as possible.
Travel required to field sites, including the possibility of foreign travel.
