About the position

The OPS Florida 4-H Camp Cloverleaf AmeriCorps Environmental Education Educator position is a temporary full-time role focused on delivering environmental education to students in grades K-12. The educator will be responsible for organizing, delivering, and evaluating a total of 100 educational onsite programs that utilize the Florida 4-H Environmental Education curriculum. This role also includes outreach efforts, where the educator will book, organize, and deliver 100 visits to schools, organizations, and agencies to teach the same curriculum. The position is designed to engage youth in learning about Florida's land, air, soil, and water, fostering a connection to the environment and promoting positive youth development through the 4-H program. In addition to the educational responsibilities, the educator will participate in initial onboarding training that covers various topics including youth development, experiential learning, and environmental education practices. Monthly check-ins will be conducted to address any ongoing needs and ensure the educator is supported throughout their service. Performance evaluations will occur quarterly to assess program delivery and provide feedback for improvement. The role requires effective communication skills, both oral and written, as well as a strong customer service orientation and experience working with youth. The time of service for this position is from September 2024 to July 2025, with flexible service hours that typically fall on weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM, although some night and weekend work may be required. The position offers a biweekly living stipend of $875 and various benefits associated with AmeriCorps service, including potential housing, loan deferment, and health insurance for full-time members.

Responsibilities
• Book, organize, deliver, and evaluate 100 educational onsite programs for students in grades K-12 related to Florida land, air, soil, and water.

• Book, organize, deliver, and evaluate 100 outreach visits to schools, organizations, and agencies to teach Florida 4-H Environmental Education curriculum.

• Participate in initial onboarding training focusing on UF Human Resources, 4-H Standards of Expectations, and AmeriCorps expectations.
,
• Conduct monthly check-ins to address ongoing needs and ensure support.
,
• Complete bi-weekly timesheet reporting and monthly data reports, including participant reach and evaluation data.
,
• Prepare quarterly narrative reports of education programs and delivery.

Requirements
• High School diploma or its equivalent is the minimum requirement.
,
• Preferred qualification is a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in sciences, education, natural resources, youth development, recreational leadership, or related fields.

• Must pass a Background Screening prior to hire.
,
• Valid driver's license preferred.
