Operations Engineer, Deployment & Ramp, Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging, Customer Experience

Job ID: Services LLC

In the Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging Customer Experience organization, we have the unique role and privilege to work backwards from our customer needs and represent their voice through the entire products' lifecycle (from product development, to deployment, to support & service), embodying Amazon's leadership principle: Customer Obsession. Our mission is to transform "stand-alone work-cells" into "end-to-end integrated solutions" that are safe, easy-to-operate, easy-to-maintain, easy-to-deploy, and easy-to-service. If you have a passion for making an impact on the future today, consider joining Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging Customer Experience Organization.

In the position of Operations Engineer Deployment & Ramp-up, you will be tasked with overseeing multiple products, programs, projects and involved in deploying MSP solutions. This encompasses deployments at both newly constructed sites and operational fulfillment centers. Your primary role is to own the coordination and execution of installation, commissioning, and performance ramp-up of the product in the field. You will drive continuous improvement ideas into both the deployment cycle time (safety, quality and productivity) and detail engineering design improvements to simplify the installation.

This role will require the ability to build relationships and capture and synthesize the voice of the customer. Typically owning either a full program or a program region, the Operations Engineer sets standards and maintains quality within their scope of responsibility. The role requires comfort in handling highly technical work scopes related to automation installation, as well as addressing typical project management escalations that may arise during installations at construction sites or live operation warehouses. The ideal candidate is proactive and takes independent initiative to improve MSP technology.

This is a travel-based role and you will be expected to travel to meet the requirements of your projects across North America, upwards of 75% or more.
Key job responsibilities
• You will manage the development of project plans and technical solutions which may not be defined, including problem statement and resource requirements definition.
• You will influence decisions on deployment and machine performance execution strategy to senior level leadership.
• You will own the tactical planning on the installation of complex cross-functional projects with considerable impact across the functions of schedule, scope, cost and product performance.
• You will own the strategy of your program/product for annual planning of resources and budget, defining deployment plans of record and continuous improvement goals.
• You will own communication of program execution and performance both verbally and in writing, consolidating inputs across multiple internal cross-functional business teams.
A day in the life

In this role you will be focused on two primary lines of effort: deployment project management and product ramp-up support. You will collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program and product managers, and internal customers to ensure the product you are deploying is both ready for deployment and capable of achieving the business requirements.
