Job Description

The University of Virginia seeks an Open Rank Professor of Urban & Environmental Planning for its Department of Urban and Environmental Planning. Candidates should have a PhD in urban planning or a related field, with research and teaching experience in sustainable transportation, housing development, and climate resiliency. The position is full-time and involves enhancing the department's offerings and addressing urban challenges globally.
DescriptionThe Department of Urban and Environmental Planning (DUEP) at the University of Virginia School of Architecture seeks tenure-track or tenured candidates whose scholarship and teaching focuses on sustainable transportation; housing and community development; data visualization and communication; climate resiliency and environment; municipal finance and budgeting; land use, law, and zoning; collaboration and engagement; healthy cities; and economic development.
With both undergraduate and graduate programs accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board (PAB), these positions will strengthen our current offerings and allow us to develop new areas of expertise. Selected candidates will enhance the excellence of the School through their research, teaching and service. The Department of Urban and Environmental Planning is home to research and teaching that tackles critical challenges faced by cities and regions across the globe. The School of Architecture includes Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Architectural History, and Urban and Environmental Planning, and emphasizes interdisciplinary, open, ethical research, and education that address the built, social, and environmental societal challenges. QualifiationsQualifications
· A PhD in urban planning or a related field by the time of appointment.· Demonstrated research experience and impact (e.g. conferences, publications).· A clear research agenda advancing planning scholarship and practice.· Desired experience teaching urban planning topics, both survey and discipline specific.· Commitment to creating and advancing a culture of interdisciplinary learning and collaboration Application InstructionsTo Apply
