The team is looking for a O&M Engineer in their Johannesburg offices.

The successful person will be responsible for assisting the Asset Manager and Operation and Maintenance Technical Manager with all engineering related matters. This includes the commissioning of renewable energy systems, designing of renewable energy system repairs and rectifications, accurately predict project costings, accurately monitoring system productions and cause of under-performance, automation of all reports prepared in the Operation and Maintenance Department and ensuring the designed system repairs are robust in operation.

The Operation and Maintenance Engineer must continually be kept up to date with new technological developments in the Solar Thermal & Solar PV Industry making sure the company remains at the forefront of innovative customised solutions and repairs to be offered to our clients.

Minimum Requirements:

• A BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical. Mechatronics or Electro-Mechanical Engineering

• 3 – 7 years’ experience on (grid and off-grid), storage systems, generators and hot water systems

• Good knowledge of big data and how to use this effectively to streamline the output required

• Good programming skills, specifically for big data and automation of reports

• Good knowledge of the IT systems that underpin renewable energy plants and how to navigate them, update them, etc

• Great at working under pressure to resolve issues

• Strong problem solving skills.

• Excellent organizational, time management, leadership and decision making skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication for interactions with client, suppliers and other relevant stakeholders

• Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards and best practices.

• The ability to work within budgets and to deadlines.

• Attention to detail

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assist Project Management team with commissioning of renewable energy plants

• Drive automation of all reports being produced by the Operation and Maintenance Department

• Draw up budgets for proposed project repairs

• Create detailed drawings for information the technicians needing to make repairs and rectifications

• Update and maintain as built drawings

• Measure and create bills of quantities for repairs

• Accurately monitor system performance and reasons for under-performance

• Assist Operation and Maintenance Department with ensuring all sites performing to expectation and any system downtime is rectified speedily and correclty

• Assist in improving reporting and monitoring functionality of the Operation and Maintenance Department

• Assist the project specific Asset Manager and Operation Technical Manager with any other issues with regards to the renewable energy sites under management i.e. SLA
