KCTV is seeking a creative News Editor in Fairway, KS, responsible for editing newscasts and special projects, archiving, and backup content. The role requires knowledge of editing equipment, preferably Avid News-cutter, and a minimum of 3 years of editing experience in local news. Candidates should have good attention to detail and communication skills, with a preference for shooting experience. This is a full-time position.

Job Summary/Description:

KCTV5 is in search of a self-motivated and creative Editor. The Editor is responsible for editing regularly scheduled newscasts and special projects and performs related job duties including archiving and backup content.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited, to):

Essential Job Functions:

70% - Edits video content

20% - Perform related job duties including archiving and backup content

10% - Communicate with field crews to tune live shots and check audio levels, along with recording various news elements, newscasts, and live events for KCTV.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Knowledge of current state-of-the-art editing equipment.

- Experience with Avid News-cutter preferred.

- Experience with Edius and other non-linear systems a plus.

- Ability to share signals with other TV affiliates.

- Shooting experience preferred.

- Good attention to detail.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Completion of high school, or equivalent. College degree preferred.

- Minimum of 3 years editing experience in a local news environment, preferably in the top 50 DMA.

- Previous editing experience in a production house environment may substitute for one year of news editing experience.
