Job Description
MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking a NERC Support Analyst I/II in Davenport, IA. The role involves program management and compliance monitoring related to NERC reliability standards. Responsibilities include analyzing and revising processes, developing training materials, assisting with regulatory responses, and coordinating cross-functional team activities. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, along with specific work experience in compliance monitoring and program management.
Job Description
The NERC support analyst performs all program management services and supports or conducts a variety of internal compliance monitoring for the utility to support continuously improving the organization's performance and attainment of goals for compliance with a variety of diverse North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) reliability standards of varying complexity and with a variety of business operations and applications used by technical and senior technical staff, supervisors, managers and directors. Coordinates agendas, facilities and scribes for cross-functional teams for a variety of diverse topics collaborating on compliance. Program management services include analysis, development, publication, tracking and maintenance of processes, procedures, communications and training materials for a diverse range of business compliance functions throughout the utility's operations, as well as business analysis, development and maintenance of intranet sites, portals or other technical tools to implement these services. This is the second level position of the NERC support analyst career path.
Responsibilities
Research and analyze processes to develop or revise a variety of diverse processes, procedures, manuals, job aids, and other documentation including internal controls and compliance evidence. Assist with regulatory responses for self certification, audits, spot checks, inquiries, event analyses, self reports and mitigation plans. (40%)
Perform administrator level and recommend design of business support functions for technology utilized to deploy procedures, training, communications and to store compliance evidence, including but not limited to SharePoint, learning management system and intranet. (10%) Analyze procedures and designs, implement and evaluate associated standardized training materials, including instructor and participant materials and computer-based training modules. Develop training profiles. Recommend straining curriculums and plans. (15%)
Analyze business needs and designs, implement and evaluate communications to inform the business of process, procedural, training or other business status or changes. (5%)
Assist with internal compliance monitoring and tracking activities, including internal reviews of data. Collect and review completeness of compliance evidence. (10%)
Assist in development of project plans and assist in tracking. (5%) Coordinate agendas, facilitate and scribe for cross-functional teams for a variety of diverse topics throughout the planning, execution, measurement and correction phases of compliance program performance improvement. (10%)
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
One year of related work experience for the Analyst I role required.
Two to four years work experience as a NERC Support Analyst I with all program management services, with a variety of compliance monitoring responsibilities and for a variety of standards of varying complexity for a variety of business operations and applications. Applicants from outside the department and/or company must have four years of work experience a related field of comparable complexity.
Excellent written communications skills. Demonstrated proficiency in AP Stylebook editing, structured writing methods, and Docutools.
Demonstrated routine content editing proficiency for interrelated, familiar materials to be used by technical and senior technical staff, supervisors and directors. Strong verbal communications skills to transmit and receive information accurately in group settings and one-on-one.
Experience productively facilitating and scribing meetings for a variety of topics with by technical and senior technical staff, supervisors, managers and directors. Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to recognize patterns in a variety of data, information or events; to draw logical conclusions; and to recommend and implement actions. Project management skills to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and SharePoint. Experience with Microsoft VISIO, PowerPoint, and authoring and publishing tools. SharePoint site design, implementation, administration and maintenance skills are preferred. Knowledge of adult learning concepts.
Travel on a limited basis generally within the service territory.
