The Opportunity

This role will require daily interaction with NASA personnel, and oversight and implementation of NEPA and Natural Resources management and compliance activities.

Your Role:
• Lead the NEPA program, ensuring compliance with NEPA requirements for projects and programs, including Categorical Exclusions (CATEX), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs).
• Maintain the Administrative Record of NEPA documents in accordance with Center-level and HQ EMD requirements, including tracking projects and associated NEPA documentation.
• Conduct environmental due diligence for real property actions, personal property disposal, and demolition projects.
• Provide support for natural resources management, including biological assessments, habitat management, and compliance with wildlife and plant conservation laws.
• Collaborate with project proponents to gather necessary information for completing environmental reviews and assessments.
• Develop and deliver training programs on NEPA and natural resource management topics to increase awareness and compliance among staff and stakeholders.
• Participate in community of practice or working group meetings to facilitate discussions on NEPA and natural resource management issues.
• Conduct research and studies as needed, providing technical advice and consultation to applicants, proponents, and tenant partners.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and policies, including Executive Orders related to natural resource management.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science or related field is required.
• 8+ years of direct experience with NEPA and Natural Resources management is required.
• In-depth knowledge of NEPA processes, natural resource management regulations, and environmental compliance requirements is essential.
• Knowledge of NASA environmental guidelines, systems, and processes is preferred.
• NEPA training and relevant certifications in environmental management are preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing
• Must be detail oriented to properly document all environmental compliance activities occurring across the contract.
This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.
