directly with the Senior Director of the Nature in the City NITC Program to protect restore and activate urban greenspaces with people living in disinvested neighborhoods across the state Specifically the NITC coordinator assists in the development of NITC city-specific strategies in multiple cities Boston Cambridge Fall River Lawrence Lowell New Bedford Springfield and Worcester among others The strategies address land protection nature-based education ecological restoration and advocacy efforts with the goal of increasing access to nature The Program Coordinator assists in the management of ongoing activities and partnerships in cities where Mass Audubon has begun its NITC program Boston Cambridge Lowell This position also supports the NITC Senior Director in the development of program-wide processes such as best practice documents evaluation strategies and administrative reporting The Program Coordinator works with Mass Audubon staff from multiple departments to bring together the technical expertise and regional support that best meets the needs of each NITC city Application Instructions Please submit a resume and cover letter with your ADP application Responsibilities Review city-wide policies planning efforts and development proposalsactivities that may affect the protection restoration or activation of urban greenspaces in the 8 named cities topics might include urban tree canopy plans heat island mitigation mobility plans or major development proposals among others Assist in community asset analyses to understand existing resources and identify key voices and community organizations working to increase access to nature for people living in disinvested neighborhoods in the 8 named cities Help track new urban greenspace opportunities that arise through statewide partners or other sources efforts could include maintaining potential project lists conducting context research and building community relationships Build and steward relationships with existing and new community partners efforts could include attending public meetings representing Mass Audubon in partner-sponsored activities and planning NITC events Support the NITC Senior Director in the development of program-wide processes such as best practice documents evaluation strategies and administrative reporting Collaborate and communicate across Mass Audubon departments with peers and senior management Maintain organized and accurate records including contact information meeting notes and program administration paperwork With access to Mass Audubons policyadvocacy team land protection team ecological restoration specialists and education department the NITC Program Coordinator identifies opportunities to advance NITC goals and mobilize efforts to support local groupsresidents in increasing access to nature Qualifications At Mass Audubon our highest priority is finding the best candidate for the job Research has shown that people of color and years in urbancity planning public policy community organizing public health environmental studies conservation science or climate policy Experience with community-based participatory engagement processes interacting with elected officials state agency and municipal staff and building authentic relationships with residents and community-based organizations Ability to analyze condense and synthesize planning documents eg comprehensive plans open space and recreation plans climate action plans etc and parcel development plans Ability to relate to a diverse range of people and exercise cultural competence and inclusion Communicate clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally Experience with public speaking and inclusive meeting facilitation Ability to work independently collaboratively and productively in a team environment across Mass Audubon departments with peers and senior management both virtually and in person Self-starter entrepreneurial flexible and well-organized Proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Word Outlook PowerPoint Excel and Teams Nice to Haves Knowledge of nature-based solutions to climate change land resiliency concepts and built environment impacts on human health Proficiency in a language other than English Data analysis and program evaluation skills Experience with social networking applications Compensation Benefits and Perks This positions base salary begins at 62000-67000 annually actual salary will reflect level of experience and qualifications relative to position requirements Benefits eligible staff Given the nature of this work the NITC Program Manager may need to attend meetingsevents outside the normal work day Other Requirements Employees must successfully complete a CORI and SORI Background
