About the position
The Nural Resource Specialist/Soil Conservationist position at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) focuses on providing leadership and technical assistance for the use of NRCS business tools. The role involves coordinating technology development and transfer, supporting field staff, and managing the deployment of software and hardware upgrades related to conservation efforts.
Responsibilities
• Provide technical leadership for core Business Tools including Conservation Desktop, Conservation Client Gateway, and Customer Service Toolkit (CST).

• Offer technical support and assistance to field, area, and state staff in using Business Tools such as CST, Conservation Desktop, GIS, and Remote Sensing.

• Coordinate with other state technical staff to develop and utilize natural resource data including soil survey geodatabase, GIS, and other tools and models.

• Provide training and manage access to agency Business Tools.
Requirements
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
,
• Must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
,
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or comparable experience.
,
• Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines; or a combination of education and experience.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
,
• Familiarity with conservation planning and resource inventory activities.
