Job Description

The State of Oregon is seeking a Natural Resource Specialist 2 to enhance and protect the state's natural resources. As a Natural Resource Specialist 2, you will play a crucial role in the protection, enhancement, and sustainable use of Oregon's diverse natural resources. Conduct research on various natural resources in Oregon, including plants, wildlife, and ecosystems, to develop management strategies.

Collaborate with other specialists and agencies to gather data and develop plans for the sustainable use and protection of natural resources.

Monitor and assess the health and status of natural resources, identifying potential threats and recommending corrective actions.

Develop and implement conservation and restoration plans for natural resource areas, including forests, wetlands, and wildlife habitats.

Provide technical expertise and guidance to government agencies, private organizations, and the public on the sustainable use and protection of natural resources.

Participate in public outreach and education programs to raise awareness and promote responsible stewardship of Oregon's natural resources.

Conduct field surveys and data collection to support resource management decisions.

Review and analyze data and reports to evaluate the effectiveness of management plans and make recommendations for improvements.

Keep up-to-date with current laws, regulations, and policies related to natural resource management in Oregon.

Engage in strategic planning and budgeting for natural resource management projects and programs.

Foster partnerships and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including landowners, community groups, and other organizations.

Prepare and present reports, presentations, and other communications on natural resource management activities and progress.

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to the protection and use of natural resources.

Stay informed on emerging technologies and techniques in natural resource management and make recommendations for their implementation.

Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and growth to improve knowledge and skills in natural resource management.
