What we are looking for:
Natural Resource Specialist 1 – Field Forester
ODF is looking for a Field Forester to manage timber sales and intensive forest management projects from planning to completion on state and federal lands. This position will also assist with the implementation of the GNA program. This will entail the layout, cruise and contract prep of timber sales located on USFS lands.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in forestry or any natural resource area.
OR
Three years of experience in Forestry or any natural resource program area and level of responsibility.
Note:
• FFT2 and S-212 courses are required to be completed in the first 6 months of employment.
• Driver’s License Check - This position requires the operation of a state vehicle for the purpose of conducting official State business. If your license is from outside Oregon, you must submit at least a three-year court/DMV printout. If you have an Oregon driver’s license, a record check will be conducted on the top candidate to ensure a valid license and acceptable driving record.

• Basic knowledge of the theory of natural resource conservation, management, protection, utilization, or control.
• Basic knowledge of research methods used in a specific natural resource program or scientific field.
• Experience gathering technical or scientific information and drawing conclusions or making recommendations.
• Experience communicating verbally and in writing with a variety of people to answer questions and explain information.
• Experience writing clear and concise status, summary, technical, or narrative reports.
• Basic knowledge of logging systems, dendrology, forest mensuration, spatial mapping, and forestry road layout.
