As a Natural Resource Protection and Sustainability Manager 1 (Land Resources Program Manager) in Salem, Oregon, you will responsible for managing multiple staff in the Land Resources Program, including positions that address the impacts of development through other agencies’ regulatory processes as well as positions who focus on proactive habitat restoration and will be responsible for developing and implementing policy for ODFW in the protection and enhancement of fish and wildlife and their habitat. Duties include:
• Supervision and employee performance assessment
• Providing oversight on specific program issues
• Providing a vision and workplan for the program
• Developing and overseeing program budgets
• Fish and wildlife habitat protection, restoration, and mitigation
• Maintaining natural resource integrity in land use and resource management
• Representing ODFW when working with regulatory agencies, local governments, federal and state land managers, Tribal land managers, and private landowners
• Assisting ODFW’s Director’s Office in state legislative policy processes to provide technical information on fish and wildlife habitat needs
• Reviewing and advising state, federal, and local agencies on projects related to land use, energy development, mining, waterway alterations, fill and removal activities, rangeland management, forest management, transportation, and other potential development or management actions
• Coordination and facilitation of habitat restoration and enhancement projects on federal, state, private, and Tribal lands
• Implementation of federal and state Natural Resource Damage Assessment statutes

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience involving habitat management for fish or wildlife, resource management and policy, or program administration;

- OR -

Two years of related experience AND a Bachelor’s degree in resource management program with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological or ecological coursework.

• Experience with the public and constituents with diverse opinions on land and water management
• Experience managing people and managerial skills (planning, budgeting, employee relations, decision making)
• Experience with wildlife habitat ecology, Oregon land use laws and various federal, state, and local regulatory processes, climate science and policy, and habitat restoration principles
• Experience in analytical approaches including the use of geospatial information in resource management, managing multiple projects, conservation science and experience with field work
