D7 Pneumatics LLC are seeking skilled and dedicated Welders & Millwrights for a 10-day shutdown. The successful candidates will be responsible for performing welding, fabrication, and mechanical maintenance duties to ensure the optimal functioning of saw mill equipment and infrastructure. This position requires a proactive, safety-conscious individual with experience in both welding and mechanical systems, who can thrive in a challenging and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Welding and Fabrication:
• Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks on a variety of materials (steel, stainless steel, and other alloys) as per blueprints and technical drawings.
• Inspect and maintain welding equipment and tools.
• Ensure the structural integrity of mining equipment by conducting regular repairs and fabrications.
• Use various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) to weld different components and structures within the mining operation.
• Mechanical Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on underground mining equipment, including conveyors, pumps, crushers, and ventilation systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures, ensuring efficient and timely repairs to minimize downtime.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment as needed.
• Install new mechanical systems and assist in the assembly of equipment.
• Safety Compliance:
• Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure compliance with company and industry safety standards.
• Participate in regular safety meetings and contribute to the safety culture of the site.
• Ensure all work is carried out with a high regard for safety, minimizing hazards and risks to team members.
• Record Keeping & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of all welding and mechanical maintenance activities, including job completion reports and parts used.
• Report any unsafe working conditions or equipment deficiencies to the supervisor promptly.
• Collaboration & Teamwork:
• Work closely with other team members and departments to complete projects and address maintenance issues.
• Assist in the development and improvement of maintenance procedures and best practices.
• Mentor and support junior team members as required.
Qualifications
• Education:
• Trade certification in welding and/or millwrighting (or equivalent work experience) .
• Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a welder and/or millwright, preferably in an heavy industry environment.
• Strong experience in welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) and fabrication.
• Experience with mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial equipment.
• Skills & Competencies:
• Proficient in welding techniques and mechanical maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of mining equipment and machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manuals.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work in an underground mining environment, with exposure to varying temperatures and confined spaces.
• Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working in a physically demanding and hands-on role.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, helmets, and hearing protection.
