Description
The Environmental Restoration Ecologist / Scientist will play a crucial role in our Northern California office locations, including Oakland, San Francisco, Petaluma, Sacramento, or San Jose. This mid-level position involves working within a thriving environmental consulting firm that specializes in planning, design, mitigation, and restoration for various projects. Our Environmental Hydrology and Design practice focuses on habitat restoration and multi-benefit flood management from watershed headwaters to the sea. Skills
• Bachelor’s (preferably Master’s) degree in Biology or related ecological fields
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience
• Technical expertise in restoration ecology and familiarity with California’s native habitats
• Strong communication skills for presenting complex information
• Organized and capable of managing multiple responsibilities
• Experience in developing and tracking scopes of work, schedules, and budgets
Responsibilities
• Serve as a Restoration Ecology technical specialist and peer reviewer
• Collaborate on habitat restoration design approaches and plans
• Author environmental documents, including biological assessments and monitoring reports
• Perform and lead biological field studies including vegetation classification and habitat mapping
• Oversee project tasks, logistics, and timelines as Deputy Project Manager or Project Manager
Qualifications
• Proven experience in restoration ecology and environmental consulting
• Familiarity with permitting principles and environmental review documents
• Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary project teams
• Experience in biological field studies and environmental documentation
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related ecological field
• Master’s degree is preferred but not required
