Description
The Environmental Restoration Ecologist / Scientist will play a key role in a thriving environmental consulting firm that specializes in planning, design, mitigation, and restoration for projects across communities, infrastructure systems, open spaces, and wildlands. This position is available in any of our Northern California office locations: Oakland, San Francisco, Petaluma, Sacramento, or San Jose. The Environmental Hydrology and Design practice focuses on habitat restoration and multi-benefit flood management, utilizing the latest scientific knowledge and technical tools to create solutions that integrate ecological function with solid engineering design.

Skills
• Bachelor’s or (preferably) Master’s degree in Biology or a related ecological field
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in restoration ecology
• Technical expertise in California’s diverse native habitats, especially wetlands and riparian habitats
• Familiarity with environmental science and permitting principles
• Ability to prepare clear and concise environmental documents
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines
Responsibilities
• Apply and adapt standard techniques for restoration design projects and biological studies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop habitat restoration designs
• Author environmental documents such as technical memoranda and biological assessments
• Perform and lead biological field studies including surveys and habitat mapping
• Oversee project tasks as a Deputy Project Manager or Project Manager, ensuring timely delivery
Qualifications
• Must enjoy fieldwork and manage physical demands of the role
• Experience in producing native habitat restoration design documents
• Effective communicator with clients and project teams
• Experience developing and tracking work scopes, schedules, and budgets
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related ecological field
