Job Description
Wood Plc is hiring a Mid-Level Environmental Geologist/Engineer/Scientist with 5-10 years of experience to support environmental compliance and due diligence in Mississippi. The role involves conducting environmental audits, preparing regulatory compliance reports, and mentoring junior staff. Candidates should have a relevant degree, strong communication skills, and experience with environmental regulations. The position requires travel to project sites and is based in Madison, MS, which is preferred.
Overview / Responsibilities
Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. is seeking a motivated Environmental Geologist, Engineer, or Scientist with 5 to 10 years of experience to support environmental compliance and/or due diligence services in Mississippi and surrounding states (location in Madison, MS is optimal but flexible). The successful candidate will become an integrated member of our technical team providing field and office support on various projects for environmental clients in the industrial, government, and power sectors. The applicant can look forward to projects including environmental compliance audits, regulatory compliance, due diligence assessments (individual and portfolio opportunities), and/or environmental remediation. This position requires an individual with effective communication skills as client, agency, public, and team interactions are expected. We are seeking an individual with experience conducting and planning for projects under RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, Title V, UST, and/or Brownfield regulatory programs, as well as other related environmental projects.
The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate experience in environmental investigation and remediation and/or environmental compliance. This position offers the opportunity to interact with clients and staff in Mississippi and surrounding states, including numerous Wood offices; mentor junior staff; contribute to the growth of the environmental service line; and collaborate with colleagues in multiple disciplines while executing the following roles/responsibilities.
• Conduct due diligence projects, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessment field work, technical report preparation, and/or technical report review in accordance with ASTM E1527-13 and E1527-21
• Coordinate and lead environmental field and office tasks for stormwater, groundwater, soil, waste characterization, regulatory compliance, and other samples for laboratory analysis
• Complete regulatory compliance reports, such as air permit reporting and recordkeeping, Tier II reports, stormwater DMRs, TRI reports, annual hazardous waste reporting, and other agency reports
• Conduct environmental audits for facilities of varying size and complexity
• Adhere to site-specific health and safety plans along with preparation of work scope, schedule, and budget
• Prepare technical reports or direct the preparation of reports, including compilation of analytical data
• Provide oversight of subcontractors, including utility locators, drilling contractors, and remediation contractors, and evaluate compliance of subcontractor work against technical specifications and scopes
• Mentor junior staff and be a team player
• Willingness and ability to problem solve, adapt to site conditions, and develop solutions while in the field and office setting
• Willingness to travel to project sites
Skills / Qualifications
Required
• BS degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or other related technical fields
• 5-10 years of experience
• Computer proficient (including Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Pro)
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Adept at relationship building, team building, and conflict resolution
• Ability to focus and attention to detail
• Must be organized and able to communicate clearly
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 35 pounds
• Willingness to travel up to 25% to meet project needs
• Must pass drug test, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Preferred
• Professional certification: PE, PG, CHMM
• MS degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, Geology or Environmental Science or other related technical field
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training
• Direct experience working for an industrial company
