Mid-Level Electrical Engineer (Renewable Transmission Interconnections)

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities: POWER Engineers is currently seeking a talented mid-level electrical engineer for a full-time position in our Renewables Transmission Department. With support from a team of experienced engineers, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the developer interconnection process and delivery of renewable energy onto the electrical grid. The position requires involvement in all stages of the project including application support, detailed design of low to extra-high-voltage renewable collector substations, one-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation layout, etc.

The successful candidate will perform detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations, create one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, select substation equipment, write substation equipment specifications, develop proposals, create construction cost estimates, and plan project scheduling. Occasional travel may be required.

Required Education/Experience:
• BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) or BSREE (BS Renewable Energy Engineering) degree from an accredited university preferably with a power option.
• Experience with IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Experience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrently.
• The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience:
• Five years of experience in substation design as outlined above.
• Experience in 15kV through 765kV substation design.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) strongly preferred.
