Job Description

Talentify is seeking a MEL Specialist for Coffee Sustainability in Seattle, WA. This short-term hybrid role involves designing and implementing a Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Framework for global coffee sustainability programs. Key responsibilities include data collection and analysis, continuous improvement of sustainability strategies, and collaboration with diverse stakeholders. Candidates should have over 10 years of MEL experience, strong leadership skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. The position requires 3 days onsite in Seattle.

This short-term role offers a unique opportunity to be at the heart of the coffee business, working closely with leadership and external experts to design and implement a Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Framework for our global coffee sustainability programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Flexibility & Adaptation: Coffee farming faces evolving challenges such as climate change, pests, economic shifts, and migration trends. This framework will help collect, evaluate, and synthesize data to refine sustainability strategies and inform real-time decision-making.
• Data Collection & Analysis: Establish metrics and reporting systems to track sustainability goals and assess the effectiveness and impact of initiatives.
• Continuous Improvement: Extract insights from data to drive ongoing strategic refinement and ensure transparent storytelling of sustainability efforts.

Candidates should bring MEL experience rooted in the following values:
• Partnership: Collaborate with farmers, suppliers, program implementers, and Farmer Support Centers to ensure inclusive data gathering and informed decision-making.
• Curiosity: Challenge assumptions, explore new perspectives, and strengthen sustainability tools through evidence-based learning.
• Flexibility: Adapt to real-time shifts in farming conditions, refining strategies to stay relevant and impactful.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience designing MEL frameworks, preferably in agriculture across diverse regions.
• Proven ability to manage projects and consultants across all phases of development and implementation.
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills, influencing diverse teams without direct authority.
• Excellent relationship-building abilities for effective cross-functional coordination.
• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, data management, and training development (Spanish language skills preferred).
Team & Work Environment
• Hybrid role (3 days onsite in Seattle, WA)
• Collaborative team split between Seattle and Switzerland
• Works closely with global advisors and sustainability experts
Key Projects

The MEL Framework will:
• Align with technical carbon MRV initiatives and ongoing public commitments.
• Integrate data tracking and technology deployment strategies.
• Connect with Capacity Building & Technical Assistance Frameworks to enhance sustainability efforts.
Daily Responsibilities
• Conduct audits of existing data and reporting systems.
• Assess relevance of datasets and identify areas for improvement.
• Evaluate and enhance data collection methods and technology use.
• Map out Theory of Change (ToC) to support strategy development.
• Establish and refine KPIs to track sustainability progress.
• Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place.
• Develop an accessible handbook to ensure data quality, accuracy, and reliability.
• Train teams to implement the MEL Framework across stakeholders and partner organizations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $80.00/hr.
