Job Description

The County of Los Angeles is hiring a Medical Electronics Technician Working Supervisor to oversee a maintenance unit responsible for medical electronics equipment. The role involves planning, supervising, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This position requires one year of experience as a Medical Electronics Technician and entails working on-site in Los Angeles, CA.
All Department of Health Services workforce members must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Successful candidates for this position will be required to submit proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or request an exemption for qualifying medical or religious reasons during the onboarding process. Candidates should not present proof of vaccination until instructed to do so by the hiring department.
ABOUT LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES*
The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second largest municipal health system in the nation. • *DEFINITION:**
Supervises and participates in the work of a medical electronics maintenance unit engaged in the maintenance, repair, testing, installation and modification of medical electronics equipment.
## Essential Job Functions
Consults with vendors and other County department representatives regarding the installation, maintenance and operation of equipment.

Plans, assigns, supervises and inspects the work of a unit engaged in the maintenance, repair, testing, installation and modification of medical electronics equipment.

Lays out jobs and makes labor and material cost estimates.

Coordinates the work of subordinates with other operating units.

Plans and schedules inspection and preventive maintenance programs.

Ensures compliance with safety regulations and observance of safe work practices.

Requisitions and orders parts and supplies as needed to maintain shop production.

Keeps shop records and makes reports as required.

Participates in the development, fabrication, modification and testing of specialized medical electronic equipment.

Performs the work of a Medical Electronics Technician as needed.

Instructs subordinates in work techniques, equipment operation and technological developments.

Prepares, or assists in the preparation of, the budget request for the section.
## Requirements
• *MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

One year of experience at the level of Medical Electronics Technician*.
• *LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
• *Physical Class III – Moderate:**
Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighting over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.
• *OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

VISION:Color perception must be normal other than for a minor hue impairment (mild as recorded on AO H-R-R Pseudoisochromatic or similar plates). Applicants who show other than normal or minor hue impairment may be tested, at the discretion of the Director of Personnel, with sample color-coded electric wires.
• *DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:**
- Experience supervising staff involved in working with medical electronics equipment.
- Experience utilizing various computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
• *SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION: **
*Experience at the level of Medical Electronics Technician is defined as: Maintains, repairs, tests, configures, and sets up medical electronic equipment.
## Additional Information
• *EXAMINATION CONTENT:**
This examination will consist of two (2) parts:
• *Part I: An evaluation of experience based upon application information and desirable qualifications weighted 50%.
Part II:* An Appraisal of Promotability which will evaluate knowledge and skills, productivity, adaptability, dependability, problem solving and supervision, weighted 50%.
• *CANDIDATES MUST ACHIEVE A PASSING SCORE OF 70% OR HIGHER ON EACH

• *WEIGHTED PART OF THE EXAMINATION IN ORDER TO BE PLACED ON THE ELIGIBLE REGISTER.**
• *ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION: **
• *Applications will be processed on an "as-received" basis and those receiving a passing score will be promulgated to the eligible register accordingly.
• *The names of candidates receiving a passing score in the examination will be added to the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.**
• *NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS.

• *SPECIAL INFORMATION: **
• *Appointees may be required to work any shift including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.**
