Job Description
AMP Clean Energy is seeking a Mechanical Plant Technician for its Industrial Biomass team in Stowmarket, UK. The role involves mechanical repairs and maintenance on biomass and electric heating plants. Key qualifications include a mechanical engineering background, HSEQ training, a valid UK driving license, and experience with heat-generating equipment. The technician will collaborate with the Site Manager and ensure efficient site operations through inspections and maintenance.
Job Overview
This exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Plant Technician to join our Industrial Biomass team at AMP Clean Energy. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking mechanical repairs, planned maintenance, and reactive maintenance on biomass, electric heating plant, and associated equipment.
You will work closely with the Site Manager and other team members to ensure the efficient running of the site. This will involve conducting regular inspections and maintenance tasks, monitoring metering equipment, and adjusting levels as necessary. Additionally, you will be responsible for producing records of inspections, maintenance routines, and repairs, including photographic records.
Key Skills and Qualifications
• Mechanical Engineering educational qualification
• HSEQ operator-level training (e.g., safety passport/CSCS card), and training on completing site risk assessment/method statements
• Valid UK driving license
• Completed Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) qualification for steam operator-level would be desirable
• Experience in HTHW, MTHW, and LTHW, and steam systems, including boilers, pumps, valves, hydraulics, controls, etc. Experienced in the maintenance and reporting of this equipment
• Familiarity with DCS/BMS controls and CMMS systems
• Strong engineering background with mechanical experience
• Experience in working on heat-generating plant and equipment within large industrial sites with a continual heat demand
• Dependable and approachable to assist the team when problems arise
• Honest and respectful towards others
• Flexible, committed, and determined to ensure high operational and HSEQ performance across the biomass asset for 24/7 energy demand
