Mechanical Engineering Intern

Ocean Power Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2025 in Monroe Township, NJ. The intern will assist in mechanical design and analysis, prepare technical reports, and support documentation. Candidates should be juniors or seniors pursuing an Engineering degree, with skills in Microsoft Office and CAD software. The internship runs from June 2 to August 8, 2025.

The Role

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support the engineering team in the mechanical design and analysis of OPT products and systems.

Responsibilities
• To assist in the Mechanical design and analysis of OPT's products
• Prepare and document design specifications, data collection and analysis.
• Carry out theoretical mechanical/structural analyses.
• Prepare technical reports to document the methodology and results of work performed.
• Assist with departmental documentation and administrative projects.
• Perform other tasks as required.

Qualifications
• Junior or Senior status in a 4-year university pursuing an Engineering degree.
• Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with SolidWorks (or similar CAD design software).
• Experience with ANSYS (or similar FE analysis software) a plus.
• Duration of Internship will be from June 2nd, 2025 - August 8th, 2025*
