Ampcontrol is seeking a Mechanical Engineer & Draftsperson in Erakala, Australia, to create 2D and 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor and Revit for various energy solutions. What You’ll Do
As a Mechanical Engineer & Draftsperson, you will:
• Create 2D and 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor and Revit and ensure compliance to customer specification, contracts, standards and appropriate requirements.
• Design various products, including mining electrical equipment, underground switchgear, fixed/mobile substations, and power factor correction units and prepare work packages for relevant stages of the project.
• Work on large-scale projects that impact the industry.
• Interpret supplier-provided mechanical drawings and prepare detailed general arrangements, lifting and towing plans, door layouts, and generate stainless and traffolyte labels.
• Follow workflow processes and act as a link between the engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Resolve mechanical engineering issues for overhaul jobs delivered to the workshop. Collaborate with the project manager to develop safe and reasonable solutions within budget.
• Some customer site visits will be required in this role.
Alongside these duties, you will handle product design and improvement tasks, including:
• Reviewing designs for compliance with standards.
• Ensuring design flexibility for changes.
• Incorporating safety considerations throughout development.
• Assisting with ongoing design risk assessments.
• Performing design calculations and documentation.
• Conducting finite element analysis (FEA) as needed.
• Maximizing software tool utilization.
• Participating in design reviews and implementing changes, sometimes with customers.
• Driving internal process improvements and implementing design standardization where possible to achieve a high-quality product within budget and delivery timeframes.
• Delivering accurate, quality designs that meet customer requirements and timelines.
• Provide and assist other Ampcontrol business units with design advice and calculations as required.
About You
You excel in detail-oriented, collaborative work. Desired qualifications:
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Revit.
• Experience with mechanical drawings and detailed designs.
• Commitment to quality, accuracy, and deadlines.
• Strong time management skills and can work autonomously.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Mechanical Engineering Degree (preferred).
