Environmental Compliance Consultants Inc. (ECC) presents an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Material Handler at the Hazardous Materials Minimization Center (HMMC) located in Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii on Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH). You will support the day-to-day operations of the facility, focusing on the storage, distribution, and recovery of hazardous materials. Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
• Prioritize safety as the utmost priority, always acting in a safe manner.
• Stock hazardous material/waste containers in the correct locations and enter data into the Hazardous Material Management System (HMMS).
• Inspect hazardous material storage lockers and storage areas.
• Issue, receive, deliver, and pick up hazardous materials to and from work centers.
• Barcode incoming hazardous materials.
• Track incoming household chemical materials and manage the disposal of household chemical waste.
• Provide training to base personnel on the management of hazardous materials and lockers.
• Manage and verify the hazardous materials Authorized User List (AUL).
• Pick up incoming hazardous materials from supply locations.
• Maintain and provide safety data sheets (SDS).
• Receive and offload incoming hazardous materials from shipping entities.
• Input materials receipt documents in HMMS.
• Manage, maintain, and extend the shelf-life of materials.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of HMMS.
• Receive excess or unwanted hazardous materials into the HMMC.
• Conduct inventory assessments of hazardous materials lockers and storage areas.
• Operate light vehicles and equipment such as trucks and forklifts.
• Clean up spilled materials.
• Perform general warehouse operations, labor, and housekeeping duties.
• Maintain detailed data entry and record-keeping.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive client relations.
• Be a supportive and respectful teammate within ECC.
• Comply with the company's drug-free policy, including medicinal marijuana.
• Accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in handling hazardous materials.
• Government HMMS experience is a plus.
• Possess or obtain a 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
• Proficiency in data entry and computer software skills.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, including marijuana.
• Ability to pass a government background check for military base access.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass occupational physicals.
• Ability to wear a respirator.
• Positive attitude, strict attention to detail, and integrity.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
