Material Handler Lead (1st Shift)

UCT is looking for a talented Shipping/ Material Handler Lead to join us in Austin, TX!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Help establish and document material handling procedures.
• Understands implications of work and recommends solutions.
• Work closely with manufacturing to provide materials as needed, issue material from the stockroom to manufacturing.
• May provide guidance to other non-exempt warehouse employees.
• Maintain correct inventory levels in the stockroom.
• May determine methods and procedures for new assignments and adhere to established guidelines.
• Prepare reports and conduct inventories in the stockroom.
• Operate forklifts and pallet jacks in a safe manner.
• Always maintain safe practices.
• Use the inventory data base and become proficient in the receiving and stockroom related transactions.
• Maintain a professional relationship with all vendors and delivery people.
• Comply with all company quality assurance methodologies and goals.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
• May drive company truck and/or forklift.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Works on assignments that require considerable judgment and initiative.
• Provide oversight to the work of other material handlers as needed to achieve department and company goals.
• Coordinate the movement of material within the stockroom to use space efficiently and effectively.
• Working knowledge of MRP systems, Visual preferred.
• Good computer literacy.
• Good mathematics and written/verbal skills.
• Communicate with other departments as necessary to ensure all goals are achieved.

Educational/Certification Requirement:
• High School Diploma/equivalent.
• APICS coursework/certification a plus.
• Acceptable driver’s record for driving company vehicles (as required).
• Forklift certification (as required).

Experience Requirement:

Work Experience:
• 4 to 6 years of related experience in a variety of roles.
• Forklift and pallet jack operating experience.

• Subject to noise levels.

• May involve exposure to noise hazard area.
• Subject to hazards including electrical current, moving mechanical parts, exposure to chemicals and debris.
• Subject to hazards, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
• Subject to hazards including working on ladders.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment.

Overnight Travel:

Work may require out of town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting).
