Market Energy Analyst

BrainWorks is hiring a Market Energy Analyst for a remote position with a power generator and reseller company. The analyst will manage financial processes related to energy trading, settlements, and regulatory compliance, focusing on renewable energy agreements. Responsibilities include overseeing transaction settlement, validating calculations for solar and wind PPAs, and building relationships with traders and internal teams. Candidates should have experience in the utility/energy sector and ISO systems.
BrainWorks partnered with a rapidly growing power generator and reseller company that’s looking for a Market Energy Analyst to join their team. This role is key to managing the financial processes around energy trading, market settlements, and regulatory compliance, particularly with renewable energy agreements.

You'll be responsible for overseeing the confirmation, reconciliation, and settlement of energy transactions, with a focus on renewable energy agreements for capacity and generation. You'll conduct in-depth analysis to ensure settlement amounts are accurate and work to resolve any discrepancies.

Priorities:
Managing the settlement process for Purchase Power Agreements (PPAs), including both energy and capacity components.

Leading the settlement of solar and wind PPAs across various counterparties, validating calculations and ensuring alignment with counterparties’ confirmations.

Leveraging the Independent System Operator (ISO) settlement system to generate precise energy transaction data for monthly billings.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with traders, counterparties, and various internal teams across the Front, Middle, and Back offices, offering valuable feedback to guide the Marketing team.

Contributing to the development of streamlined processes and best practices within the Settlements team in the Controller division.

Qualifications:
Solid experience with ISO and RTO systems.

MUST HAVE a background in the utility/energy sector, with expertise in settlements, market trading, and Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) systems.

Knowledge of regulatory reporting and commodity-related financial processes.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities.

Compensation:
Up to $100k base salary DOE

Remote OR Relocation package (dependent on preference)
