The Pacific Marine Mammal Center is hiring a Marine Science Educator to deliver educational programs on marine mammals both onsite and offsite in Orange County. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, teaching experience, and strong presentation skills. Responsibilities include leading school programs like Whales on Wheels and Marine Mammals on the Move. The position offers $19/hour and is full-time, starting April 1st or earlier.
Pacific Marine Mammal Center (PMMC) strives to provide world class marine science education which inspires the next generation of scientists and ocean stewards. We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our education team. PMMC offers a great variety of educational programming to a wide range of audiences. We are looking for an enthusiastic team member who can help support the rapid expansion of our newest programs and assist us in taking our programs to the next level. This person will have exceptional and engaging presentation skills, will be knowledgeable about marine mammals, and be able to effectively engage large groups of children.

Primary responsibilities will include delivering our Whales on Wheels school assembly program and our Marine Mammals on the Move classroom program in elementary schools around Orange County. Whales on Wheels includes a life-sized inflatable whale that students can experience inside and out! The program focuses on the integral ecosystem functions to which whales contribute, human impacts affecting them, and what everyone can do to help. Marine Mammals on the Move brings marine mammal science into the classroom with creative activities such as our mock necropsy with plush sea lions that help demonstrate PMMC’s research efforts. In addition, this person will occasionally teach programs onsite at PMMC or assist in our visitor yard as needed.
