Overview:

The State of Connecticut is seeking highly motivated individuals to assist in educating boaters about clean and safe boating practices. As a Boating Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in promoting the importance of aquatic invasive species prevention, waterway safety, and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities:
• Interact with boaters and provide education on pumpout locations, Aquatic Invasive Species information, No Discharge Areas, safety equipment, and life jacket use.
• Conduct vessel safety checks developed by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
• Encourage Clean Boaters by having them sign the Clean Boater Pledge and discuss the Clean Boater Action Guide.
• Closing the parking lot when full.
• Reporting the condition of the boat launch.
• Performing light maintenance at the boat launch.
• Submitting weekly summaries detailing the use of the boat launch.
• Assisting with public outreach events as needed.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, candidates should have a driver's license, work independently, and be comfortable working at a boat launch during the summer months. Knowledge of boating is a plus, and incumbents may be required to obtain and retain certain certifications or licenses.
Skillset:

This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to follow instructions, and strong problem-solving abilities. Incumbents must also possess adequate physical strength and stamina to perform the duties of the class.
