Job Description

Rhode Island Energy is seeking a Maps & Records Coordinator in Providence, RI, to oversee mapping personnel and manage GIS data for compliance and safety. Responsibilities include training staff, maintaining databases, generating reports, and improving departmental processes. Candidates should have an associate degree or equivalent experience, with at least 2 years in GIS or mapping. Supervisory skills and knowledge of Esri GIS systems are preferred.

Overview:

The Maps & Records Coordinator shall support the Maps and Records Team overseeing Mapping personnel involved in the collection and input of mapping data into Rhode Island Energy GIS Enterprise systems to ensure safety and to achieve compliance goals.
Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
• Assist Lead GIS Specialist and/or Supervisor with training, monitoring, developing personnel, as well as other varied assigned duties in the Maps and Records department as required.
• Review, approve and post maps and records projects.
• Responsible for updating and maintaining the backlog databases daily into Rhode Island Energy GIS applications to ensure timely delivery of information and safe operation of public gas facilities while meeting regulatory requirements and maximizing cost recovery returns.
• Generate and update various reports as required to monitor performance against Rhode Island Energy deliverables which include Safety, KPIs & Compliance metrics.
• Maintain Record Retention database & prepare and process Maps & Records Historical documents as well as others for storage as required by Rhode Island Energy policies.
• Assist Lead GIS Specialist and/or Supervisor of Mapping in Performance Excellence. Ensuring the Department is meeting requisite goals, identifying concerns and causes of deficiencies, and recommending and implementing improvement opportunities in Maps & Records.
• Assist in the design and development of quality assurance/quality system practices and procedures in upstream gas Workorder processes to drive improvement on cycle time deliverables.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
• Associate degree in an Engineering discipline OR in lieu of a degree, equivalent work experience required.
• Preferred: Ability and experience to supervise in an Automated Mapping/GIS environment.
• Desired: Minimum of 2 years experience in Mapping, Engineering, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS), in a supervisory or drafting capacity.
• Demonstrated supervisory skills necessary to direct, motivate, instruct and develop bargaining unit personnel in the operation and maintenance of electronic and manual mapping and information systems.
• Knowledge and understanding of Esri GIS Enterprise Systems and the Utility Network.
• Knowledge of federal, state and municipal codes and regulations and company standards and policy.
• Possess sound interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

NOTE: Employees selected for this classification will be required to participate in federally mandated drug testing programs prior to selection, randomly on a year round basis, after an accident and for reasonable cause.
