ACT Professional Solutions is hiring a Manufacturing Process Development Engineer in Lexington, KY. The role focuses on enhancing shipping and packaging processes with an emphasis on sustainable packaging. Responsibilities include collaborating on the NAM Primary Packaging Roadmap, leading implementation of sustainable materials, conducting financial impact assessments, and supporting new product development. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Manufacturing Process Development Engineer to enhance our shipping and packaging assembly processes. This role emphasizes innovation in sustainable packaging. Here’s what we are looking for:
• Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with manufacturing and sustainability teams to execute the NAM Primary Packaging Roadmap.
• Research and identify sustainable packaging products suitable for our local site, coordinating formal testing in laboratories.
• Lead implementation efforts for new sustainable materials in collaboration with various departments.
• Physically assist with necessary changes to labeling, warehouse layouts, workstations, and bins as project demands arise.
• Source and procure new fixtures, tools, and workstations required for projects.
• Conduct 3F (Fabrication First Steps) and assist with FAIR (First Article Inspection Reporting).
• Provide ongoing support for newly implemented sustainable materials, troubleshooting issues as they occur.
• Report progress and updates to the PP/PS Sustainability team.
• Perform financial impact assessments, cost analysis, and cycle time analysis for projects.
• Contribute to XFMEA (Cross-Functional Failure Mode Effects Analysis) as needed for project implementations.
• Assist in modifying work instructions and document specifications for packaging processes.
• Ensure deliverables align with global assembly process practices.
• Coordinate equipment installations and validate effectiveness where required.
• Obtain plant acceptance and finalize tool and process sign-off for project deliverables in accordance with Schneider Performance System (SPS).
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or process engineering (5+ preferred).
• Experience with component replenishment, kanban, and related material handling practices.
• Familiarity with new product development environments and stage-gate processes.
• Proficient knowledge of verification and validation processes for new product development.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multicultural teams across various functional areas.
• Self-starter capable of managing multiple projects autonomously.
• Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
Preferred qualifications include 5+ years in packaging/shipping processes and experience with SAP production software.
