Job Description
Women in Cleantech and Sustainability is hiring for various manufacturing operations roles at First Solar in South Carolina and Ohio. Positions include Manufacturing Engineer, Trade Policy Manager, Workforce Development Team Lead, Operations Engineer, Quality Technician, MES Developer, and Human Resources Manager. Responsibilities range from system installation and troubleshooting to managing trade policy and developing workforce training initiatives.
Various positions | First Solar
Technician- Manufacturing Engineer I (Nights/B Crew) – Perrysburg, OH
Assist in the installation and qualification of systems, troubleshoot day-to-day manufacturing issues, identify, and/or implement system improvements that contribute to the achievement of throughput, yield, and product performance goals.
Trade Policy Manager (Based in Washington DC) – Perrysburg, OH
The Manager of Trade Policy will lead First Solar’s engagement on U.S. and international trade policy issues, including tariffs, trade agreements, supply chain security, and customs compliance. This role will support the Director of Government Relations in shaping and executing the company’s trade strategy, advocating for policies that support domestic manufacturing and a level playing field in the global solar market.
Team Lead- Workforce Development I USA – Trinity, AL
The Workforce Development Team is service-oriented with a mission to build and sustain a culture of learning for our associates to enable them to lead a safe, productive & rewarding career at First Solar.
The Workforce Development Team Lead I is a leadership position with direct reports (on “shift” crew Training Advocates and in some cases office based Training Specialists). The Team Lead II retains the same responsibilities as a Team Lead I position with additional functions of leading the development and implementation of new training project initiatives, having more direct collaboration with higher leadership, and providing mentoring & training for other team leads, advocates and training specialists.
Team leads conduct onboarding and manages their Training Advocates to collaborate with assigned teams to further develop their associates. Team leads may also be responsible for managing Training Specialists on community engagement and the delivery of training programs.
Engineer- Operations II USA – Trinity, AL
Coordinate, schedule and prioritize solar module manufacturing operations for Semiconductor or Module manufacturing areas. Utilize a broad spectrum of data sources to identify and implement improvements to manufacturing operations resulting in positive impact to factory performance metrics and employee health, satisfaction and retention.
Technician- Quality I USA (A Crew/AM Shift) – Gaffney, SC
Provide Quality Assurance support to manufacturing departments by performing quality audits of standard work, work in process, finished products, incoming parts, etc. Collect and analyze data for trends, process capability and machine reliability. Work with manufacturing supervisors and engineers to implement corrective actions, employee training and scrap reduction.
Developer II- MES USA (1st Shift) – Gaffney, SC
Design, Develop, Test and Implement Manufacturing Software System. Works with the MES architect to ensure solutions integrate seamlessly with the MES hardware and software systems to support enterprise design goals. Provides support for First Solar’s Manufacturing Systems, R&D, and Quality systems and data architectures.
Manager- Human Resources – Gaffney, SC
The Human Resources Manager performs management-level strategic human resources related duties for First Solar. Ensures all human resources functions and activities run effectively and efficiently and in accordance with First Solar’s Code of Conduct, Behaviors & Core Values. Carries out responsibilities across the HR generalist spectrum, including the following functional areas: recruiting, employee relations, transaction preparation & processing, process and procedure development and interpretation, benefits, training & communication. Oversees’ and directs the work of reporting HR staff and encourages the development of the HR staff.
